“How much does a WordPress website cost?” is the first question almost every client asks us, and the honest answer is “between $299 and $20,000+”. That range is useless on its own, so this guide breaks it down the way we price projects at MymenTech: by what you actually need, what drives the price up, and what you will keep paying after launch.
WordPress website cost at a glance (2026)
| Type of site | Typical agency price | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Brochure site (5 pages, custom theme) | $299 – $699 | 1–2 weeks |
| Business site with blog, forms and SEO setup | $699 – $1,499 | 2–4 weeks |
| WooCommerce store (up to 50 products) | $599 – $1,999 | 3–5 weeks |
| Custom plugin or integration | $500 – $5,000 | 1–6 weeks |
| Multi-vendor, membership or headless build | $5,000 – $20,000+ | 6–12 weeks |
These are the real tiers on our WordPress development and e-commerce pages, not a marketing range. A US or Western European agency typically charges three to five times these figures for the same scope, which is the main reason businesses hire remote teams in Bangladesh.
What you are actually paying for
1. Design
A template-based site reuses a purchased theme and swaps content. A custom design starts in Figma, goes through one or two revision rounds and is then coded. Custom design adds roughly $200–$800 to a small site and is worth it when the site is your main sales channel. If you are starting out and need something clean fast, a well-chosen premium theme customised by a developer is a legitimate option.
2. Development
This is where cheap and expensive sites diverge. A hand-coded theme loads faster, is easier to maintain and does not break when a page builder updates. Plugins stacked on top of each other are quick to set up but slow to run and expensive to debug a year later. We write custom code for anything that is central to the business and use proven plugins for commodity features such as forms and caching.
3. Content and migration
Moving 300 blog posts, cleaning up categories and redirecting old URLs takes real hours. Budget $150–$600 for a content migration, more if the old site has broken structure. Writing new copy is usually separate.
4. E-commerce features
Every WooCommerce store needs payment gateways, shipping rules, tax configuration and email templates. Stripe and PayPal setup is standard. Subscriptions, bookings, multi-currency, marketplaces and ERP integrations each add days of work.
5. Performance and SEO setup
A site that scores 95+ on Lighthouse and ships with correct titles, schema markup and a sitemap starts ranking earlier. We include this in our Business tier and above because fixing it afterwards costs more. See our SEO & performance service if you have an existing site that needs it.
Ongoing costs after launch
- Hosting: $10–$40 per month for a managed WordPress host that handles a business site comfortably. Avoid $3 shared hosting for anything that earns money.
- Domain: $12–$20 per year.
- Premium plugins or themes: $0–$300 per year depending on what the site uses. We keep this low by building features rather than renting them.
- Maintenance: $99–$249 per month for updates, backups, security scans and small changes. Our maintenance plans list exactly what is included.
A realistic total for a small business site is therefore $700–$1,500 up front and $40–$300 per month after.
Why quotes vary so much
Three agencies will quote $900, $4,000 and $12,000 for the “same” five-page site. The difference is usually one of these:
- Who does the work. A senior developer in Bangladesh costs a fraction of a junior in Chicago. The code quality is often better because remote agencies compete on reputation.
- Process overhead. Account managers, discovery workshops and weekly stakeholder meetings are valuable for a $50k project and pure overhead for a $1k one.
- Custom versus assembled. Assembling plugins is fast and fragile. Custom code is slower to write and cheaper to own.
- Scope creep protection. Some agencies quote low and bill every change. We quote per tier with a written scope and a fixed number of revisions.
How to get an accurate quote
Send any agency these five things and you will get a number you can trust:
- A list of pages and what each one must do
- Two or three sites you like, and why
- Whether you need e-commerce, bookings, memberships or integrations
- Your content status: ready, needs writing, or needs migrating
- Your deadline and whether maintenance should be included
With that brief we reply within one business day with a fixed price. Request a free quote or order a plan directly from the service pages; every order starts with a kickoff call before any work begins.
Frequently asked questions
Can I build it myself for free?
Yes, with WordPress.com or a hosting one-click installer and a free theme. It costs your time rather than money and usually ends with a site that is slow and hard to change. Many clients come to us after a year of DIY, and a rebuild is cheaper than they expect.
Does the price include hosting?
No. You own your hosting account and domain so you are never locked in. We set everything up and hand over the credentials.
How long does a WordPress site take?
Two weeks for a brochure site, three to five for a store, longer for custom applications. The biggest delay in most projects is waiting for content, so start writing early.
Do you work with clients outside Bangladesh?
About 99% of our clients are in North America and Europe. We work on US time zones, communicate daily and have delivered 500+ projects since 2018.
